การจัดการศึกษาด้านวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ สถาบันเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าพระนครเหนือ ได้เริ่มต้นมาจากแผนกวิชาแผนกหนึ่งในโรงเรียนเทคนิคพระนครเหนือ (หรือที่รู้จักในนาม”เทคนิคไทย – เยอรมัน”) ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ.2514 ซึ่งเป็นปีที่วิทยาลัยเทคนิคพระนครเหนือและวิทยาลัยเทคนิคอีกสองแห่งได้เปลี่ยนฐานะมาเป็น สถาบันเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าที่ประกอบด้วย 3 วิทยาเขตคือ วิทยาเขตพระนครเหนือ วิทยาเขตธนบุรี และ วิทยาเขตเจ้าคุณทหารลาดกระบัง คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์จึงได้ถูกจัดตั้งอย่างเป็นทางการ

ตั้งแต่เริ่มแรกของการจัดตั้ง คณะฯ ได้ยึดถือเป็นนโยบายในการผลิตวิศวกรที่มีความรู้ ความเข้าใจในหลักการวิศวกรรมศาสตร์พื้นฐาน (engineering sciences) และมีทักษะในเชิงปฏิบัติ กล่าวคือสามารถนำทฤษฎีไปประยุกต์เพื่อแก้ปัญหาทางวิศวกรรมในปัญหาจริงได้อย่างมีประสิทธิผล

ในปัจจุบันคณะฯได้เปิดรับนักศึกษาที่สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพ (ปวช.) โดยผ่านการสอบคัดเลือกตรงและรับผู้ที่สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย (ม.6) โดยผ่านกระบวนการสอบของสถาบันทดสอบการศึกษาแห่งชาติ (สทศ.) และสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการอุดมศึกษา (สกอ.) เพื่อเข้ามาศึกษาในหลักสูตรวิศวกรรมศาสตรบัณฑิต 4 ปี (วศ.บ.) ในสาขาต่างๆ นอกจากนี้ยังมีการรับนักศึกษาโควต้าและผู้มีความสามารถพิเศษด้านต่างๆเช่น ด้านหุ่นยนต์และสิ่งประดิษซ์ เป็นต้น ส่วนในระดับบัณฑิตศึกษาก็จะมีสาขาวิชาที่ต่อเนื่องสูงขึ้นไปจากระดับปริญญาตรีในทุกสาขาวิชาเพื่อเป็นการเสริมสร้างงานวิจัยและสร้างองค์ความรู้ด้านวิชาการให้มีความก้าวหน้ายิ่งขึ้นไป

At present, the Faculty is accepting students who have completed a Vocational Certificate (Vocational Certificate) through a direct entrance exam and accepting high school graduates (Mathayom 6) through the examination process of the Testing Institute. คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ ได้ให้ความสำคัญกับความร่วมมือกับต่างประเทศมาตลอด อาทิ ความร่วมมือรัฐบาลสหพันธ์สาธารณรัฐเยอรมันมาตั้งแต่ปี 2524 และปี 2527 คณะฯ ได้ร่วมมือกับสถาบันการศึกษาในเยอรมันโดยการสนับสนุนทางการเงินจากสหภาพยุโรปในการพัฒนา ภาควิชาวิศวกรรมเคมีและกระบวนการในปี 2532 คณะฯ ได้ร่วมมือมหาวิทยาลัยในฝรั่งเศสภายใต้การสนับสนุนทางการเงินจากสหภาพยุโรปในโครงการพัฒนาห้องปฏิบัติการวิจัยด้านการสันดาปในภาควิชาวิศวกรรมเครื่องกลและในปลายปี 2534 โครงการความร่วมมือทางวิชาการกับสถาบันการศึกษาและวิจัยในฝรั่งเศสก็ได้เริ่มขึ้นเพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานทางวิชาการด้านวิศวกรรมเครื่องกลโครงการนี้ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสหภาพยุโรป ในปัจจุบันคณะวิศวกรรมศาสต์ร์ก็ยังมีความร่วมมือกับประเทศต่างๆ ในการจัดการศึกษาโดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา

ตั้งแต่ปี 2538 เป็นต้นมาคณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ได้จัดกิจกรรมเพื่อเป็นการพัฒนาการศึกษาด้านวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ เช่น การประเมินผลการเรียนการสอน การส่งเสริมการวิจัย ของบุคลากรคณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ กิจกรรม 5 ส. การประกันคุณภาพ และตั้งแต่ปี 2543 คณะฯ ก็ได้เริ่มกิจกรรมในการจัดการศึกษาวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ร่วมกับอุตสาหกรรมในโครงการ “สหกิจศึกษา”

Since 1995 onwards, the Faculty of Engineering has organized activities to develop engineering education, such as evaluating teaching and learning outcomes. research promotion of Faculty of Engineering personnel, 5S activities, quality assurance, and since 2000, the Faculty has started activities in organizing engineering education together with industry in the “Cooperative Education” project.

A Brief History of Faculty of Engineering:

Faculty of Engineering is committed to train engineers and develop technology for international community. We offer the highest quality programs for undergraduate and graduate levels. There are 9 engineering departments covering 19 bachelor’s, 13 master’s and 8 doctoral programs. For undergraduate programs, 6 English / International Engineering programs were taught within the faculty.

Faculty of Engineering prepares students for life-long learning and provides unique theoretical and practical hands-on learning experiences to succeed in their specialized fields. Our world-class facilities, equipment and laboratories well support student in learning and graduate-level research. We are committed to train competent engineering workforce to support development and prosperity of Thailand and other countries.

Faculty of Engineering has established in 1963, a few years after the founding of the university, Faculty of Engineering is one of the oldest faculties at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB). The Faculty first offered programs in mechanical technology and electrical technology to prospective high-school graduates in 1964. Then, in 1969, the programs were expanded to include vocational-school graduates. The first two departments; mechanical technology and electrical technology, were later renamed Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering, respectively.

In 1995, the faculty consisted of 9 departments at the Bangkok campus. The faculty also expanded to the Prachinburi campus by offering a program in instrumentation engineering by the Department of Industrial Electrical Technology in 1995, and a program in computer engineering by the Department of Electrical Engineering in 2006.

The faculty now offers more than 30 programs from 9 departments:
